My daughter is average size and height for her age - she was almost 7 years old (was wearing sizes 6 and 7 - 7 is a little big on her), and I bought a size large for her. It was a little big, but not too big on top, just a little loose. I meant to get simething a little bigger so she could use it for about a year, and ordering her a large size was perfect! I did need to trim about two inches off the bottom. It just took a little patience to get it straight, but it's the kind if material that doesn't fray, so doesn't need to be hemmed. We just folded the sleeves once about an inch and a half, and it was absolutely perfect for her performance. The royal blue color was gorgeous and the skirt spun out beautifully. We got a lot of compliments from the teacher and other mothers. Just remember that the lower scoop on the neck goes to the back. Very happy with this purchase, but I would not recommend going by the seller's sizing - read the reviews to figure out what size to wear!
