...because as the other reviewer noted, the vocal used here is wrong. I suspect this is a rerecording with Ray Simpson, who replaced the irreplaceable Victor Willis as VP lead vocalist--and "cop"--in mid-1979.I'm not loving the fact that only 3 of these ten songs are offered in their extended versions. These are the MacArthur Park Suite at a whopping 17:47, After Dark at 7:52, and Come Into My Heart at 7:57. There was room on the CD for the full versions of pretty much all ten. "Last Dance" is particularly disappointing in this 3:19 version; it barely gets going before it stops. The song choices are very good especially considering possible licensing limitations. The tracks by Sylvester, Linda Clifford, and Voyage were huge disco hits that deserved bigger pop airplay than they got. Again, 12-inch or LP versions would have been nice. All of these reached #1 on Billboard's Disco chart in 1978 except "Shake Your Groove Thing" and "Y.M.C.A.", which each reached #2. Since you can find the correct "Y.M.C.A." about a hundred other places, this disc is still recommended for the remaining nine tracks.
