Theses were ordered from the Amazon warehouse at a great low price (under $10) with the intended use as a beginner/practice pair of tap shoes. It stated that they were used; however, they appeared brand new, no blemishes or scuffs, and came in original box. They are made of polyurethane to appear as leather. The style is typical for beginner tap and appeared to be well made along the seems. The taps were secure on base. Prior research on this shoe style stated to order a size larger. I wear a 9; these were 9.5 and the fit was still extremely snug (with or without footies). Instead of waiting to see if they would give or stretch a little (as real leather would have), I returned. It's my assumption that the same think happened to the last person who returned them. I suggest a whole size larger may be best for anyone trying this tap.After ordering a different tap show I found these and based on my previous experience order these 1.5 sizes bigger. My grand-daughter normally wears a women's 8.5, I ordered a 10. They fit perfect, the quality was much better than the others that I had order and the price was fantastic. They have a nice heavy tap in the front and back. My grand-daughter is very happy with them.The shoes are a little short in the toe. I normally wear a 9.5 or 10 in dress shoes & 10.5 in athletic shoes. I probably should have gone up to a sz 11, but I'm hoping they will give a little. They are pretty comfortable otherwise, made of vinyl not leather, lower heel height is way better for me as a beginner. Good shoe for the priceGreat for tap.
